Today, I had the pleasure of welcoming an international boxing delegation to Lagos, led by Dr. Ezekiel Adamu. The delegation included prominent representatives from Amir Khan Promotions and Balmoral Promotions, as well as members of the global sports media from DAZN and TalkSport.
Our meeting centered on preparations for the highly anticipated ‘Chaos in the Ring’ boxing event, scheduled to take place in Lagos on October 1st. This world-class sporting event promises to deliver top-tier boxing action, bringing together international fighters, rising African stars, and a global spotlight on Lagos.
It was a productive and exciting discussion, as we explored how this event will go far beyond the boxing ring. ‘Chaos in the Ring’ represents a powerful opportunity to promote Lagos as a major destination for sports, entertainment, and international tourism. By hosting such a prestigious event, we are reaffirming our commitment to positioning Lagos as a global city capable of hosting high-impact events that drive economic growth, youth engagement, and cultural exchange.
Most importantly, this event will also provide a platform for homegrown boxing talent to shine on an international stage. Our local athletes will have the chance to compete alongside—and against—some of the best in the world, gaining invaluable experience and exposure.
I commend the efforts of Dr. Ezekiel Adamu, Amir Khan Promotions, Balmoral Promotions, and our media partners for their vision and dedication to making this event a reality. Lagos is proud to be the host city, and we are committed to providing all the support necessary to ensure its success.
As we count down to October 1, I encourage all boxing enthusiasts and sports fans to gear up for an unforgettable night of action, energy, and excellence right here in the heart of Lagos
