
Lagos State Governor, Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, today welcomed the Charge d’Affaires of the Royal Embassy of Saudi Arabia, His Excellency Saad Fahad Almarri, during a courtesy visit to Lagos House, Marina. The meeting underscored the deepening diplomatic ties between Lagos State and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, while also opening new conversations around investment, cultural exchange, and bilateral cooperation.
Governor Sanwo-Olu expressed appreciation for the visit, noting that Lagos continues to strengthen its global partnerships in order to advance economic growth and create new opportunities for its residents. He highlighted the long-standing relationship between Nigeria and Saudi Arabia, especially in the areas of commerce, pilgrimage, and mutual development. According to the Governor, Lagos remains committed to fostering an enabling environment for foreign investment and collaboration, and the engagement with the Saudi envoy reinforces that commitment.
H.E. Saad Fahad Almarri conveyed the goodwill of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and reiterated the Embassy’s interest in exploring new areas of cooperation with Lagos State. He commended the Governor’s leadership and the state’s ongoing transformation, noting that Lagos’s dynamism makes it a strategic hub for stronger diplomatic and economic relations.
Both parties discussed potential areas of partnership, including tourism development, trade enhancement, cultural initiatives, and support for the growing number of Lagos residents who embark on religious journeys to Saudi Arabia each year. The Charge d’Affaires emphasized the Kingdom’s readiness to work more closely with Lagos to improve services, deepen people-to-people ties, and encourage investments that will benefit both regions.
The visit concluded with an exchange of goodwill messages and a reaffirmation of the shared commitment to strengthening Nigeria–Saudi Arabia relations through Lagos State’s leadership and global outlook
