Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has reiterated his administration’s commitment to fostering an enabling ecosystem that supports sustainable economic growth, particularly through the real estate sector, which he described as a vital pillar in the development of Lagos. The governor made this known on Tuesday at the 5th Lagos Real Estate Marketplace Conference and Exhibitions, held at Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island.
Sanwo-Olu noted that Lagos continues to experience rapid urban expansion, making real estate a key driver of employment, investment, and infrastructure development. He stated that his government is determined to strengthen policies, institutions, and regulatory frameworks that ensure transparency and long-term viability in the sector. According to him, creating a stable and investor-friendly environment is essential for sustaining the state’s position as Nigeria’s economic hub.
One of the major announcements made by the governor at the event was the state’s plan to introduce an integrated and efficient waste management system in collaboration with international partners. Sanwo-Olu explained that the initiative will enhance environmental sustainability, improve public health, and support physical development across Lagos communities. He stressed that a cleaner, well-managed environment is essential for real estate growth, as it promotes liveability and boosts investor confidence.
The conference, organized by the Lagos State Real Estate Regulatory Authority (LASRERA), brought together key stakeholders including developers, investors, policymakers, and industry professionals. Sanwo-Olu commended LASRERA for creating a transparent and interactive platform that encourages dialogue, collaboration, and innovation within the real estate ecosystem.
He further emphasized that the state government will continue working closely with the private sector to expand opportunities, address sector challenges, and deliver projects that meet the needs of a growing population. The governor assured that Lagos remains committed to reforms that will shape a more sustainable, resilient, and prosperous future for all residents.
