Lagos State employees have every reason to celebrate as Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has approved a landmark end-of-year bonus equivalent to 100 percent of workers’ basic salaries. The announcement, which has generated excitement across the state’s workforce, was conveyed through an official memo issued by the Head of Service, Mr. Bode Agoro, and made available to journalists in Alausa.
According to the memo, the governor’s directive is aimed at appreciating the commitment, resilience, and hard work demonstrated by public servants throughout the year. The bonus will be disbursed to all categories of state employees, ensuring that no segment of the workforce is left out of the gesture. Beneficiaries include workers in core ministries, departments and agencies, as well as staff of local government councils. Employees of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) and the Lagos Neighborhood Safety Corps (LNSC) are also expressly captured in the approved package.
This decision underscores the Sanwo-Olu administration’s continued efforts to prioritize staff welfare and boost productivity within the public sector. By providing the equivalent of a full month’s basic salary as a bonus, the government aims to motivate employees as the year winds down and support them in meeting financial demands associated with the festive season.
The memo emphasizes that the bonus reflects the state’s appreciation for the workforce’s contributions to governance, service delivery, and the overall development of Lagos. It also reaffirms the administration’s commitment to sustaining policies that enhance employee satisfaction and strengthen public service performance.
As Lagos prepares to enter a new year, the approved bonus stands as a positive signal of the government’s willingness to invest in its human capital and maintain a supportive environment for its workforce. This gesture is expected to boost morale and encourage public servants to continue delivering excellence across all sectors of the state.
