Today, I had the privilege of attending a special luncheon organised in honour of the 2025 Outstanding Public Servants of Lagos State, held at the Adeyemi Bero Auditorium in Alausa. The event was a meaningful opportunity to recognise and celebrate men and women whose daily commitment continues to drive the progress of our state.
Public service demands integrity, discipline, and consistency, and those who embody these values deserve to be acknowledged. Many public servants work diligently behind the scenes, without recognition or public applause, yet their efforts are felt across ministries, departments, and agencies every single day. Their dedication ensures that policies are implemented, services are delivered, and the machinery of government continues to function effectively.
During the luncheon, I took time to personally congratulate the recipients of the car prizes and to thank them for choosing a path of service. We engaged in thoughtful conversations about leadership, responsibility, and the importance of upholding ethical standards, particularly in public office where trust and accountability are paramount. These discussions reinforced the idea that true leadership is reflected not only in visible achievements but also in everyday decisions to do the right thing, even when the work is demanding and often goes uncelebrated.
Recognising excellence within the public service serves a greater purpose beyond individual rewards. It inspires others to strive for higher standards, reinforces a culture of merit and accountability, and reminds us all of the vital role public servants play in the development of Lagos State. As Lagos continues to grow and evolve, it is the dedication, professionalism, and quiet commitment of its public servants that keep the state moving forward and delivering value to its people
