Today, I had the privilege of welcoming participants to the 6th Lagos Real Estate Marketplace Conference, and I commend the Lagos State Real Estate Regulatory Authority (LASRERA) for consistently sustaining a platform that brings together policy, investment, and practical action. This conference has become an important meeting point for ideas and partnerships that shape the future of our built environment.
The theme of this year’s conference speaks directly to both our present realities and our long-term aspirations. The growing interest from global investors is a clear reflection of confidence in Lagos as a serious and performing economy. Lagos is already a major global urban economy, and our responsibility now is to guide its growth in a way that is inclusive, liveable, and sustainable.
While our skyline continues to rise and transform, our true focus must remain on the people. Housing our citizens with dignity, affordability, and quality is not optional—it is fundamental. Housing sits at the heart of our development agenda and is deeply connected to infrastructure, transportation, energy provision, and economic opportunity.
To support this vision, we are making deliberate investments in roads, rail, and essential services, while strengthening regulation through LASRERA to ensure transparency, professionalism, and investor confidence. We are also encouraging innovation and positioning affordable housing as a viable and attractive economic sector, driven by strong and well-structured public-private partnerships.
We value our collaborations with local and international stakeholders who continue to contribute to shaping the future of Lagos. These partnerships are critical to building a city anchored on innovation, sustainability, and shared prosperity.
Lagos remains a safe, stable, and attractive destination for investment. Building a true megacity is about more than erecting tall buildings; it is about creating a city that works for everyone—where opportunity is accessible, communities are secure, and the next generation can thrive.
