Today, I attended the 2025 Christmas Carol of Nine Lessons at Lagos House, Ikeja, a meaningful and uplifting event that captured the true spirit of the season. The gathering brought together people from different walks of life to reflect, worship, and share in the joy that Christmas represents.
This season serves as a powerful reminder of the values that bind us together as a people—hope, compassion, peace, and love for one another. These values are especially important in a state as dynamic, diverse, and demanding as Lagos, where the pace of daily life can often leave little room for quiet reflection. Moments like this provide an opportunity to pause, breathe, and reconnect with the principles that guide us beyond our responsibilities and routines.
The Christmas Carol of Nine Lessons is not only a celebration of faith and tradition, but also a call to renewal. Through scripture, music, and shared reflection, we are reminded of the importance of kindness, selflessness, and service to others. These ideals remain essential to building a society where everyone feels valued and supported, particularly during times of uncertainty or challenge.
As the year draws to a close, this period offers a chance to look back with gratitude on the progress we have made, while also acknowledging the lessons learned along the way. It is a time to renew our commitment to one another and to the collective responsibility of building a more inclusive, compassionate, and resilient Lagos.
I am grateful for the opportunity to be part of this year’s celebration and for the spirit of unity it fostered. As we approach the end of the year, may the message of Christmas inspire us to carry hope into the coming year, extend compassion to those around us, and strengthen the bonds that hold us together as one people
