Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to positioning Lagos as a globally competitive, safe, and investor-friendly megacity through strong policy reforms anchored on infrastructure investment, innovation, and the delivery of affordable housing.
The Governor made this assertion while delivering the keynote address at the 6th Lagos Real Estate Marketplace Conference and Exhibitions, held on Tuesday at Eko Hotel and Suites, Lagos. The conference was organised by the Lagos State Real Estate Regulatory Authority (LASRERA) under the Office of the Special Adviser to the Governor on Housing, with the theme “Shaping the Future of Lagos Mega City: Infrastructure Investment, Innovation, and Affordable Housing.”
Governor Sanwo-Olu emphasised that real estate remains a critical driver of economic growth, job creation, and urban development in Lagos. He noted that as Africa’s leading megacity, Lagos must continuously reform its policies and regulatory frameworks to attract responsible investors while ensuring sustainability, safety, and inclusiveness in the built environment.
He highlighted ongoing and planned infrastructure investments across transportation, power, housing, and urban renewal, stating that these initiatives are designed to unlock value, improve livability, and support long-term growth. The Governor also stressed the importance of innovation and technology in real estate development, including smart city solutions, data-driven planning, and efficient building practices.
Addressing the challenge of housing affordability, Sanwo-Olu reaffirmed his administration’s resolve to expand access to decent and affordable housing for residents, particularly low- and middle-income earners. He noted that collaboration between government, private developers, financial institutions, and regulators is essential to closing the housing gap in a sustainable manner.
The Governor charged investors, developers, and industry stakeholders to embrace innovation, comply with regulatory standards, and partner with the state in building a Lagos that is resilient, inclusive, and globally competitive.
The conference brought together policymakers, investors, developers, professionals, and industry experts to discuss emerging trends, opportunities, and solutions shaping the future of Lagos’ real estate sector.
