Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has highlighted significant progress made by the state in 2025, attributing key achievements to improved revenue performance and stronger alignment with national economic reforms. Speaking during a recent appearance on Journalists’ Hangout, the governor outlined how Lagos’ development efforts fit into the broader national picture.
Governor Sanwo-Olu explained that increased revenues have enabled the state to scale up investments across critical sectors, including transportation, infrastructure, security, environmental management, and job creation. According to him, these gains are translating into tangible improvements that directly affect the daily lives of Lagos residents.
He emphasized that the state’s achievements are guided by the THEMES+ Agenda, which prioritizes steady and practical progress rather than short-term wins. “Our focus remains on delivering results that people can see and feel,” he noted, adding that ongoing projects across the state are steadily moving forward as a result of improved financial capacity and disciplined planning.
The governor also shared his perspective on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s leadership, stating that ongoing national reforms are beginning to yield positive outcomes. He pointed out that changes at the federal level have strengthened revenue flows to states, enhanced fiscal stability, and improved the ability of subnational governments to plan, invest, and deliver development projects.
While acknowledging that challenges still exist, Governor Sanwo-Olu said there is now a clearer sense of direction and purpose at the national level. For Lagos, he stressed that alignment between federal policies and state actions is critical, as it creates the necessary space to advance priorities in transportation, technology, tourism, the creative economy, and other strategic sectors.
He reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to inclusive growth, concluding that Lagos remains focused on building a stronger, more resilient city that works for everyone.
