The Lagos State Governor on Wednesday marked the beginning of 2026 with a strong message of unity, faith, and renewed hope, as he participated in interfaith prayers across the state. The Governor attended the New Year service at the State House Chapel in Marina and later joined Muslim faithful at a mosque, underscoring the importance of togetherness and shared values as Lagos enters the new year.
During the prayers, special intercessions were offered for Nigeria and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The Governor called on Nigerians to continue supporting the President as he implements difficult but necessary reforms aimed at addressing the nation’s social and economic challenges. He noted that while the path of reform can be demanding, it is essential for long-term national growth and stability.
Expressing confidence in the future, the Governor assured residents that Lagos would continue to move forward despite challenges. He declared his belief that 2026 would be a glorious year for the state and that it would be well with every Lagosian.
Reflecting on leadership and responsibility, the Governor acknowledged the value of time, noting that he has only one more January 1 in office. He emphasized that public office is temporary and said this awareness keeps him focused, humble, and committed to serving with purpose. Despite any obstacles ahead, he reaffirmed his resolve not to give up, expressing strong faith in a greater Nigeria.
He also appreciated those who joined in the prayers and acknowledged the messages shared by religious leaders. At the Christian service, Dr. Bukola Oluwagbemiga encouraged reliance on God and openness to divine guidance. At the Muslim prayers, Dr. Abdullahi Jebe spoke on the need to avoid hypocrisy and work together with sincerity and unity of purpose.
As the year begins, the Governor offered a simple prayer—that God would guide the people, and that Lagos State and Nigeria would continue to rise in strength, peace, and progress.
