The Lagos State Government has ushered in the new year with its annual New Year Thanksgiving Service, held at the Tafawa Balewa Square, bringing together residents, faith leaders, and government officials in a moment of gratitude and reflection.
Speaking at the event, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu described the thanksgiving service as a meaningful tradition that helps set the tone for the year ahead. He noted that beginning the year in prayer allows the state to reflect on the journey so far while expressing gratitude for divine protection and guidance over Lagos and its people.
The governor thanked God for preserving the state through the challenges of the past year and for the continued strength granted to its citizens. He acknowledged the resilience of Lagosians, emphasizing that their determination and collective spirit remain the driving force behind the state’s progress.
During the service, Governor Sanwo-Olu also renewed his personal commitment to public service. He pledged to govern with greater dedication, to listen more attentively to the concerns of the people, and to lead with empathy and understanding in addressing the needs of residents across the state.
Looking ahead, the governor spoke about the ambitious goals Lagos State has set for the year, spanning infrastructure development, economic growth, social welfare, and improved service delivery. He stressed that achieving these goals would require unity, cooperation, and a shared sense of purpose among all residents.
Governor Sanwo-Olu concluded with a prayer for continued unity, peace, and faith in the collective potential of Lagos State. He urged residents to look out for one another and to remain hopeful and steadfast as they journey together toward a greater future.
