Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has pledged to consolidate the gains recorded by his administration over the last six and a half years through the successful implementation of the THEMES+ development agenda, with a focus on completing and commissioning several iconic and transformational projects across the state.
The governor stated that his administration remains committed to delivering people-oriented projects that will strengthen infrastructure, boost economic growth, and improve the overall quality of life for Lagos residents. He explained that the projects, spread across different sectors and regions of the state, are designed to reflect the inclusive development vision of his government.
Governor Sanwo-Olu disclosed that all the projects and policy ambitions lined up for the year will be adequately supported by the 2026 budget, tagged “The Budget of Shared Prosperity,” which is currently before the Lagos State House of Assembly for consideration. He described the proposal as the final full-year budget of his administration, adding that it was carefully structured to sustain ongoing initiatives and deliver lasting impact.
According to him, the 2026 budget is anchored on four key pillars: a human-centred approach to governance, delivery of modern and resilient infrastructure, promotion of a thriving and inclusive economy, and the strengthening of effective and accountable governance. These pillars, he noted, are aimed at ensuring that economic growth translates into real benefits for residents at the grassroots.
Sanwo-Olu emphasized that despite economic pressures, his administration has remained fiscally responsible while prioritizing investments in critical sectors such as transportation, healthcare, education, housing, and security. He assured that no viable project would be abandoned, stressing that continuity and completion remain top priorities.
The governor also expressed confidence that the proposed expenditure framework would further accelerate development and deepen shared prosperity across the state. He urged lawmakers and residents to support the budget, noting that its successful implementation would help cement the legacy of his administration and position Lagos as a resilient, competitive, and forward-looking megacity
