
The Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has joined President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week Summit to witness the signing of a comprehensive economic agreement between Nigeria and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), a move aimed at strengthening bilateral relations and driving sustainable development.
The landmark agreement is expected to deepen trade ties between both countries while unlocking new investment opportunities across key sectors of the Nigerian economy. According to Governor Sanwo-Olu, the partnership goes beyond formal documentation, laying the foundation for tangible economic growth, long-term collaboration, and mutually beneficial relationships that will positively impact everyday Nigerians.
Governor Sanwo-Olu noted that the agreement aligns with Nigeria’s broader economic reform agenda, particularly in attracting foreign direct investment, promoting innovation, and advancing sustainable development. He emphasized that such international partnerships are critical to positioning Nigeria as a competitive player in the global economy.
For Lagos State, the governor stressed that agreements of this nature hold significant value, as they create pathways for fresh investments and improved access to global markets. He explained that sectors driving Lagos’ economy—such as infrastructure, technology, energy, trade, and manufacturing—stand to benefit immensely from enhanced cooperation with global partners like the UAE.
