
Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, on Tuesday attended a prestigious traditional ceremony at Iga Idunganran, the ancient palace of the Oba of Lagos, where chieftaincy titles were conferred on distinguished individuals whose service and contributions have positively impacted the state.
The ceremony, presided over by His Royal Majesty, Oba Rilwan Babatunde Osuolale Akiolu I, the Oba of Lagos, brought together traditional rulers, senior government officials, community leaders, and invited guests to witness the historic conferment of titles on deserving recipients.
Governor Sanwo-Olu described the occasion as a celebration of excellence, dedication, and selfless service to humanity and society. He noted that the conferment of chieftaincy titles by the Oba of Lagos is a deeply rooted cultural tradition that recognises individuals who have demonstrated outstanding character, leadership, and commitment to the growth and development of Lagos State.
According to the Governor, the honourees represent the values of hard work, integrity, and service, which are essential for building a stronger and more prosperous Lagos. He emphasised that traditional institutions continue to play a vital role in preserving culture, promoting unity, and supporting governance at the grassroots level.
Governor Sanwo-Olu congratulated all the recipients on the well-deserved recognition, describing the titles as a testament to their positive influence and contributions to the social, economic, and cultural advancement of the state.
