The Youth Bureau has praised the Lagos State Government, under the leadership of Governor Babajide Sanwo‑Olu, for its decisive action in protecting the health of children across the state with the launch of the statewide Measles‑Rubella (MR) Immunisation Campaign. The initiative, which began on January 27, 2026, targets over 10.5 million children aged 9 months to 14 years, ensuring that children are safeguarded against these preventable diseases.
Governor Sanwo‑Olu reassured Lagosians that the vaccines are safe, free, and administered by trained health personnel, as part of a broader strategy to reduce child morbidity and mortality, support school attendance, and build healthier communities.
Vaccination teams are working in schools, primary healthcare centres, religious institutions, and temporary community posts across urban and rural areas, including Surulere, Agege, Ojo, Ikorodu, Mushin, and Badagry. Special mobile teams have been deployed to riverine and hard-to-reach communities to ensure every child has access to the vaccines.
The Youth Bureau, through its Publicity Secretary Adekunle Adeosun, commended the initiative, noting:
“This campaign is a practical step that ensures children in Lagos, whether in the city or in hard-to-reach communities, are protected from preventable diseases. Healthy children contribute to stronger families and a stronger Lagos.”
We urge parents to take full advantage of this free programme, it is a small step with enormous impact.”
