Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has called on individuals, corporate organisations, and other stakeholders to support the state government’s ongoing efforts to sustain the security of lives and property across Lagos State through the Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF).
The governor made the appeal on Friday during a private breakfast meeting with selected Managing Directors and Chief Executive Officers of leading companies. The meeting, organised by the Lagos State Security Trust Fund, was held in the Ikoyi area of Lagos and aimed at raising funds to address critical security needs projected for 2026.
Governor Sanwo-Olu emphasized that security remains a top priority of his administration, noting that the safety of residents and businesses is essential to Lagos’ social and economic development. He explained that as the state continues to grow in population and economic activity, there is a corresponding need to invest more in modern security infrastructure, equipment, and capacity building for security agencies.
According to the governor, the Lagos State Security Trust Fund has played a crucial role in complementing government efforts by mobilising private sector support for security operations in the state. He described the fund as a successful public-private partnership model that has helped provide patrol vehicles, communication gadgets, surveillance equipment, and other critical resources to security agencies over the years.
Governor Sanwo-Olu urged corporate leaders and well-meaning individuals to continue supporting the LSSTF, stressing that collective responsibility is key to sustaining peace and stability in Lagos. He noted that investments made through the fund directly contribute to protecting businesses, communities, and livelihoods across the state.
The governor also assured stakeholders of transparency and accountability in the management of resources contributed to the LSSTF. He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to ensuring that all funds raised are judiciously applied to meet identified security needs.
He concluded by expressing confidence that sustained collaboration between the government and the private sector would further strengthen Lagos’ security architecture and ensure a safer environment for residents and investors alike.
