
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has reassured residents of Lagos State of the government’s firm commitment to maintaining peace, security, and stability across the state following a meeting of the State Security Council held on Tuesday morning.
The meeting took place at the State House, Marina, and was attended by heads of all major security agencies operating in Lagos. The gathering provided an opportunity to review the current security situation in the state, assess emerging threats, and strengthen coordination among security formations to ensure the continued safety of lives and property.
Speaking after the meeting, Governor Sanwo-Olu emphasized that Lagos remains calm and secure, noting that proactive measures are being taken to prevent any breakdown of law and order. He stated that the Security Council continues to work closely with intelligence and operational units to stay ahead of potential security challenges, particularly in a city as dynamic and densely populated as Lagos.
The Governor highlighted the importance of constant vigilance, intelligence sharing, and rapid response in sustaining peace in the state. He commended the security agencies for their professionalism, dedication, and collaboration, which he said have played a crucial role in keeping Lagos safe despite social and economic pressures.
Governor Sanwo-Olu also reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to supporting security agencies with the resources, logistics, and policy backing needed to carry out their duties effectively. He stressed that security remains a top priority of his administration, as it is fundamental to economic growth, social stability, and the overall wellbeing of residents.
Residents were urged to remain calm, go about their lawful activities, and continue to cooperate with security agencies by providing timely and credible information when necessary. The Governor noted that security is a collective responsibility and that public cooperation is essential to sustaining the peace Lagos is known for.
He concluded by assuring Lagosians that the government will continue to take decisive steps to safeguard the state, adding that Lagos will remain peaceful, resilient, and open for business.
