Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has inaugurated the Local Government Coordinators of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors in Lagos State, describing the initiative as a vital platform for strengthening communication between government and the people at the grassroots.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, the governor said the Renewed Hope Ambassadors movement was established to take the message of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda directly to communities across the state. According to him, the mission is to move from neighbourhood to neighbourhood, ensuring that residents clearly understand government policies, ongoing reforms, and how these efforts affect their daily lives.
Governor Sanwo-Olu noted that many citizens are busy with their livelihoods and that some remain skeptical about political promises. He explained that the movement is designed to bridge this gap by meeting people where they are, listening to their concerns, and engaging them through honest and direct conversations. He stressed that effective governance requires presence at the community level and a willingness to hear feedback firsthand.
He added that the ambassadors are expected to serve not only as messengers of government programmes but also as listeners who will report the needs and expectations of the people back to relevant authorities. This, he said, will help build trust and ensure that policies remain people-centred.
As a show of support for the initiative, Governor Sanwo-Olu announced the donation of buses to each of the 20 newly inaugurated Local Government Coordinators, representing all the local government areas in Lagos State. The buses, he explained, will enhance their mobility and enable them to reach more communities efficiently.
The governor reaffirmed Lagos State’s commitment to supporting the Renewed Hope Agenda of the Federal Government, adding that sustained dialogue and grassroots engagement are essential for strengthening public confidence and keeping citizens informed.
He urged the coordinators to carry out their duties with dedication, integrity, and respect for the people, emphasizing that their work will play a crucial role in sustaining an active and transparent relationship between government and the governed.
