Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to community-driven governance with the inauguration of Local Government Coordinators of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors in Lagos State.
Speaking at the ceremony, the governor described the initiative as a strategic platform for deepening citizen engagement and ensuring that the ideals of the Renewed Hope Agenda reach residents at the grassroots. He noted that governance is most effective when policies are informed by the real experiences of the people, adding that the coordinators will serve as vital links between government and communities.
Governor Sanwo-Olu emphasized that the Renewed Hope Ambassadors are expected to listen actively to local concerns, promote civic participation, and foster unity across wards and local government areas. According to him, the programme is designed not only to communicate government policies but also to build trust through consistent engagement, transparency, and service delivery.
He urged the newly inaugurated coordinators to approach their responsibilities with integrity, dedication, and a strong sense of purpose, stressing that their success will be measured by the impact they create in their respective communities. The governor further highlighted that youth and women inclusion would remain central to the initiative, as their voices are critical to shaping sustainable development.
The administration, he said, is committed to providing the necessary support to ensure that the coordinators function effectively, including access to information, capacity-building opportunities, and collaboration with local government leadership.
In their responses, representatives of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors expressed appreciation for the confidence reposed in them and pledged to work closely with community leaders, traditional institutions, and civil society groups to promote dialogue and collective action.
The inauguration marks a significant step in strengthening participatory governance in Lagos State, reinforcing the government’s resolve to take development policies directly to the people, promote inclusive growth, and nurture lasting confidence in public institutions.
