
Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to inclusive development and private-sector collaboration following a courtesy visit by His Royal Majesty, Oba Abdulwasiu Omogbolahan Lawal, to Lagos House, Marina.
During the meeting, both leaders held extensive discussions on the Oniru Meets Business initiative, a platform designed to connect traditional institutions, investors, and government agencies in addressing business challenges within Iru Land. The initiative aims to foster entrepreneurship, stimulate local investments, and create sustainable economic opportunities for residents, while promoting a business-friendly environment rooted in community values.
Governor Sanwo-Olu commended the Oniru for his visionary leadership and proactive engagement with the business community, noting that traditional rulers play a critical role in grassroots development and peacebuilding. He emphasized that partnerships between government and traditional institutions are essential for driving growth that is both inclusive and impactful.
The discussions also focused on the upcoming Oniru Business Culture Day initiative, which seeks to blend cultural heritage with enterprise development. The programme is expected to showcase Iru Land as a destination where culture, commerce, and community coexist harmoniously. Both parties explored ways the Lagos State Government can support the initiative through policy alignment, infrastructure planning, and investor engagement.
Governor Sanwo-Olu reiterated that Lagos remains open to innovative ideas that promote peace, attract investment, and generate employment opportunities for young people and small business owners. He assured the monarch of the state’s readiness to collaborate on projects that will strengthen the local economy and enhance the quality of life for residents of Iru Land.
