Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has announced the successful completion of the rehabilitation of the 9-kilometre stretch of road from Chevron to Admiralty on the Lekki-Ajah corridor, Lagos-bound.
According to the governor, the project was originally scheduled to be completed within 41 days but was delivered ahead of time in just 27 days. He attributed the early completion to the government’s resolve to ease the hardship caused by daily traffic congestion along the busy corridor and to ensure minimal disruption to commuters and businesses.
The governor explained that the completed section forms part of the wider 28-kilometre Lekki-Ajah corridor, which runs from Lekki-Ajah Bridge to Admiralty, covering both carriageways. He noted that the rehabilitation is being executed in phases to allow for better traffic flow and efficient project management.
He further disclosed that work on the Epe-bound lane of the corridor will commence soon as the government continues to implement its comprehensive road improvement programme across the state. The phased approach, he said, will ensure that each section is handled thoroughly while maintaining access for road users.
Governor Sanwo-Olu thanked residents and commuters for their patience and cooperation during the construction period, acknowledging the inconvenience caused by ongoing works. He assured the public that traffic management measures would remain in place, with the deployment of appropriate personnel and continuous monitoring of project progress to guarantee safety and efficiency.
The governor reiterated his administration’s commitment to improving road infrastructure as a critical step toward boosting economic activities, reducing travel time, and enhancing the overall quality of life for Lagosians.
He emphasized that the Lekki-Ajah corridor is one of the most strategic routes in the state due to its link to major residential and commercial hubs, and its rehabilitation will significantly improve mobility and support business growth in the axis.
With the early completion of the Chevron–Admiralty section, the Lagos State Government has once again demonstrated its determination to deliver people-oriented projects while keeping to high standards of efficiency and accountability.
