
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has reiterated the Lagos State Government’s dedication to building a pension system that is transparent, efficient, and just for public servants who have devoted their working lives to service.
The Governor made this known while receiving the Senior Management Team of the Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate (PTAD) at Lagos House, led by its Executive Secretary, Tolulope Odunaiya.
During the meeting, both parties engaged in extensive discussions on pension administration, focusing on the need to strengthen processes that guarantee prompt and accurate payment of entitlements to retirees. Governor Sanwo-Olu emphasized that pension management is not just a financial responsibility but a moral obligation to those who have served the state and the nation with dedication and integrity.
He noted that Lagos State has continued to invest in reforms aimed at improving accountability, reducing delays, and eliminating bottlenecks in pension administration. According to the Governor, a reliable pension system is critical to sustaining trust in public service and ensuring that workers can retire with dignity and peace of mind.
The PTAD delegation commended Lagos State for its proactive stance on governance and its continuous efforts to uphold best practices in public sector management. They highlighted the importance of collaboration between federal agencies and state governments in addressing challenges associated with legacy pension schemes and ensuring that retirees receive their benefits without unnecessary hardship.
Governor Sanwo-Olu assured the delegation of Lagos State’s readiness to work closely with PTAD to enhance data management, streamline verification processes, and adopt innovative solutions that will improve service delivery to pensioners.
He reaffirmed that his administration will remain focused on policies that promote fairness, transparency, and compassion in pension administration, stressing that the welfare of retirees remains a priority for the state government.
