Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has described Lagos as a leading force in the transformation of African cities, noting that the state is playing a significant role in reshaping the continent’s urban development and economic direction.
According to the governor, Lagos has emerged as a key driver of growth and innovation across Africa, with its rapid expansion and evolving infrastructure serving as a model for other cities on the continent. He said the pace of development in Lagos reflects the broader shift taking place across African urban centres as they adapt to rising populations, economic opportunities, and technological advancement.
Sanwo-Olu explained that Lagos now stands at the centre of Africa’s urban transformation, demonstrating how cities can harness growth to create opportunities, improve infrastructure, and support sustainable economic progress. He noted that the state’s ongoing investments in transportation, technology, housing, and social development are helping to shape a modern and globally competitive city.
The governor emphasised that Lagos is not only keeping pace with Africa’s growth but is also helping to define the direction of the continent’s urban future.
