The Epe Youth Forum has commended Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for sustaining a robust and far-reaching infrastructure development agenda, noting that recent projects across the state are not only transforming communities but also opening up new opportunities for youth engagement, enterprise, and economic growth.
In a comprehensive statement issued in Lagos and signed by its Coordinator, Adewale Adeosun, the group highlighted key interventions in electricity expansion, road rehabilitation, and community-focused infrastructure as clear evidence of an administration committed to inclusive growth and long-term development.
According to the forum, one of the most impactful recent initiatives is the electrification of communities in Badagry and surrounding coastal areas, where residents have historically faced persistent challenges with unstable power supply. The group described the intervention as a “turning point” for many households and small businesses that have struggled to operate effectively due to unreliable electricity.
“Access to stable electricity is not just about comfort; it is about opportunity. It enables businesses to grow, supports learning, and empowers young people to develop skills and build sustainable livelihoods,” Adeosun stated.
The forum explained that many youths in these communities depend on electricity for vocational trades such as welding, tailoring, hairdressing, and ICT services. With improved power supply, these activities can now be carried out more efficiently, reducing operational costs and increasing productivity.
Beyond electricity, the group also noted the ongoing road construction and rehabilitation projects across different parts of Lagos State. It stated that improved road networks enhance connectivity, reduce travel time, and facilitate the movement of goods and services, thereby boosting economic activity.
The Epe Youth Forum emphasised that infrastructure development has a multiplier effect. It not only improves living standards but also attracts investment, stimulates local economies, and creates employment opportunities for residents.
The group further praised Governor Sanwo-Olu for ensuring that development is not concentrated solely in central urban areas but extended to coastal, semi-urban, and rural communities where infrastructure gaps have historically limited growth.
“Balanced development is key to sustainable progress. When all parts of the state are given attention, it reduces inequality and creates a more inclusive environment for growth,” the statement added.
The forum urged the state government to sustain the momentum and continue prioritising projects that directly impact the daily lives of citizens, particularly young people.
