The Lagos State Government has announced plans to officially open the Ojota–Opebi Link Bridge to the public this week, marking a significant milestone in efforts to improve transportation and reduce traffic congestion across Lagos. The long-anticipated project is expected to bring much-needed relief to commuters who have for years endured gridlock along some of the city’s busiest corridors.
The new bridge provides a direct connection between Ojota and Opebi, linking several high-traffic areas including Maryland, Mende, and Allen. Prior to its construction, motorists traveling between these locations were forced to navigate longer, indirect routes, often resulting in heavy congestion and extended travel times, particularly during peak hours. The absence of a direct link had made the corridor one of the most challenging for daily commuters and businesses alike.
With the completion of the Ojota–Opebi Link Bridge, traffic flow is expected to improve significantly. The bridge will serve as an alternative route, helping to decongest major roads and distribute vehicular movement more efficiently across the network.
