President Tinubu to Commission Major Infrastructure Projects in Lagos
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is set to embark on an official visit to Lagos State this week, during which he will commission a number of landmark infrastructure projects delivered by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu. The visit marks a significant moment for the state, highlighting ongoing efforts to modernize infrastructure and improve the quality of life for residents.
Among the key projects scheduled for commissioning is the Ojota–Opebi Link Bridge, a strategic transport infrastructure designed to ease traffic congestion around major commercial hubs such as Ikeja, Maryland, and Ojota. The bridge is expected to significantly reduce travel time and enhance connectivity across different parts of the metropolis. Also on the list is the newly constructed Lagos State Geographic Information System (GIS) building, which will improve land administration and digital mapping services across the state.
In addition, the President will inaugurate the Multi-Agency Complex in Alausa, a facility built to house several government agencies under one roof. The complex is aimed at improving coordination among public institutions and enhancing service delivery to Lagos residents. Another notable project is the Tolu Schools Complex in Ajegunle, which reflects the administration’s commitment to strengthening the education sector by providing modern learning environments for students.
The Lagos Fresh Food Hub in Abijo will also be commissioned as part of efforts to boost food security and streamline agricultural produce distribution within the state. This initiative is expected to support farmers, reduce post-harvest losses, and ensure a more stable supply of food items. Furthermore, the Maracana Stadium, alongside 19 mini sports pitches, will be unveiled to promote youth engagement, grassroots sports development, and community recreation.
Speaking ahead of the visit, the Lagos State government described the projects as “legacy interventions” that align with its broader development agenda focused on transportation, education, urban planning, and economic growth. Officials noted that these projects are designed not only to address current infrastructural challenges but also to position Lagos as a leading smart city in Africa.
The commissioning ceremonies are expected to take place over two days, drawing top government officials, stakeholders, and residents. The visit underscores the strong collaboration between the federal and state governments in driving sustainable development and delivering impactful projects to the people.
