The Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, warmly received the President and Chief Executive Officer of the Project Management Institute (PMI), USA, Mr. Pierre Le Manh, and members of the PMI Global Board of Directors at the Banquet Hall of Lagos House, Marina.
The high-level visit marks a significant step in the ongoing collaboration between the Lagos State Government and PMI, following the successful signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in 2024 aimed at enhancing project management capacity across public institutions in the state.
During the meeting, Governor Sanwo-Olu expressed his appreciation for the strengthening partnership and reiterated Lagos State’s commitment to global best practices in project execution and governance. He noted that effective project management remains central to the delivery of the administration’s THEMES+ development agenda.
“Our partnership with PMI is not just about training; it’s about transforming the way we plan, implement, and evaluate projects across ministries and agencies,” the Governor said. “Lagos is growing rapidly, and we need world-class systems and structures to ensure sustainable development. PMI’s global expertise is helping us build those structures.”
Discussions during the engagement focused on fostering innovation, expanding capacity-building initiatives, and leveraging PMI’s global network to support Lagos State’s development priorities. Both parties acknowledged the critical role of project management in driving efficient service delivery, transparency, and accountability.
Mr. Le Manh commended the Lagos State Government for its forward-thinking approach and reaffirmed PMI’s commitment to supporting the state’s efforts in institutional development and project success.
The visit concluded with a renewed pledge to deepen collaboration and build a model of excellence that can serve as a reference for other subnational governments across African.
