Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, has joined family, friends, and dignitaries from all walks of life to celebrate the life and legacy of Ambassador (Dr.) Christopher Olusola Kolade, CON, at the Service of Songs and Night of Tributes held in his honour.
The solemn yet inspiring event brought together eminent Nigerians from the public and private sectors who gathered to pay their respects to a man widely regarded as a symbol of integrity, excellence, and patriotic service. Ambassador Kolade, who was a seasoned diplomat, academic, and corporate leader, dedicated his life to advancing Nigeria’s development through ethical leadership and commitment to national progress.
Speaking at the event, Governor Sanwo-Olu described Ambassador Kolade as a rare gem whose exemplary character and deep sense of responsibility left an indelible mark on generations of Nigerians. He noted that the late elder statesman was not only an outstanding professional but also a moral compass whose values continue to guide those privileged to have known or worked with him.
“Ambassador Kolade lived a life that embodied discipline, humility, and unwavering dedication to service. His wisdom and contributions to national discourse inspired many of us in public service and beyond,” Governor Sanwo-Olu said. “He was a man of integrity who believed in the power of good character as the foundation for leadership and nation-building. His legacy will remain a source of inspiration for generations to come.”
The Governor emphasized that Nigeria has lost a great patriot and mentor whose impact extended across education, governance, diplomacy, and the corporate world. He highlighted Kolade’s outstanding career — from his time as Nigeria’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, to his leadership roles in broadcasting, academia, and business — describing him as a man who combined intellect with grace and principle.
Governor Sanwo-Olu extended his heartfelt condolences to the Kolade family, praying for God’s strength and comfort during this period of loss. “May his soul rest in perfect peace,” he added.
The Service of Songs and Night of Tributes served as a fitting celebration of a life well lived — a reminder that true greatness lies not in titles or wealth, but in the lasting impact one makes on humanity.
