Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to completing and inaugurating several transformational projects across the state by 2026, describing the move as a key part of efforts to deepen development and improve the quality of life for residents.
The governor gave the assurance while speaking on the progress of ongoing infrastructure and social development initiatives being executed by his administration. According to him, the projects cut across critical sectors such as transportation, housing, healthcare, education, and urban renewal, and are designed to address the needs of Lagos’ rapidly growing population.
Sanwo-Olu noted that despite economic challenges and rising construction costs, his government has remained focused on delivering people-oriented projects that will have long-term impact on the state’s economy and social wellbeing. He stressed that adequate planning, transparent processes, and continuity in governance have helped sustain momentum on key projects.
Among the projects expected to be completed are major road networks, rail infrastructure, housing schemes, and health facilities, many of which are already at advanced stages. The governor explained that these initiatives align with the THEMES+ agenda of his administration, which prioritizes traffic management and transportation, health and environment, education and technology, making Lagos a 21st-century economy, entertainment and tourism, and security and governance.
Sanwo-Olu also assured Lagos residents that his government would not abandon any viable project inherited or initiated, adding that all ongoing works are being closely monitored to ensure timely completion and quality delivery.
He called on residents to remain patient and supportive, emphasizing that temporary inconveniences caused by construction activities would soon give way to lasting benefits. The governor reiterated that by 2026, Lagosians would witness the commissioning of landmark projects that would further position the state as a model of sustainable urban development in Nigeria and across Africa.
The administration, he said, remains committed to building a resilient, inclusive, and prosperous Lagos for present and future generations.
