The Epe Youth Forum has commended Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for his visionary leadership in transforming Lagos’ infrastructure, improving urban connectivity, and enhancing the quality of life for residents across the state.
Under the Sanwo-Olu administration, several major projects are ongoing to address transportation challenges, facilitate commerce, and expand access to affordable housing.
A landmark development is the transformation of the Obalende Bus Stop on Lagos Island into a modern transport hub, Y’ELLO Bus Park. Developed in partnership with MTN Nigeria, the hub is designed to improve commuter experience, streamline public transport operations, and create a cleaner, healthier urban environment. Features include organised bus lanes, ticketing booths, directional signage, waste-management stations, sanitation facilities, and solar-powered installations. This upgrade significantly enhances one of Lagos’ busiest transport junctions, providing a more efficient and sustainable public transportation system for residents and visitors alike. The Y’ELLO Bus Park also aims to reduce traffic congestion and air pollution in the area, contributing to a more liveable city for all.
Reacting to the projects, Adewale Adeosun, Coordinator of the Epe Youth Forum, praised Governor Sanwo-Olu’s infrastructure drive:
“Governor Sanwo-Olu’s focus on roads, bridges, and transport hubs is making a tangible difference in Lagos communities. Improved connectivity creates opportunities for young people, facilitates trade, and improves daily life for residents. These projects show a government that is thinking ahead for both the city and its growing communities.”
Beyond central Lagos, infrastructure improvements are also reaching growing communities. Road networks in Somolu, Kosofe, and Ifako-Ijaiye LGAs have been redeveloped, connecting residential areas, schools, and business districts with rebuilt streets, walkways, lighting, and improved drainage to prevent flooding. In Ifako-Ijaiye, the newly commissioned Abiola-Onijemo Link Road with Bridge now links Abiola/Ajayi/Ogba to Obawole/Iju-Ishaga, removing barriers residents have faced for decades and boosting local commerce. These infrastructure improvements are crucial for enhancing connectivity and fostering economic growth in these areas. The development of road networks in these LGAs is a testament to the government’s commitment to creating a more accessible and prosperous environment for all residents.
