The Yoruba Radical Assembly (YRA) has commended Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for his sustained and deliberate investment in education, describing his administration’s approach as one that prioritises the future of Lagos by empowering learners, teachers, and educational institutions across the state.
From the early days of his administration, Governor Sanwo-Olu has maintained that education remains the strongest tool for social mobility and economic growth. This conviction continues to reflect in ongoing reforms and infrastructure upgrades within public primary, secondary, and tertiary institutions across Lagos.
In recent months, the Lagos State Government has intensified the rehabilitation and construction of classroom blocks, the provision of modern learning facilities, and the deployment of digital learning tools in public schools across communities such as Epe, Badagry, Agege, Alimosho, Ikorodu, and Mushin. These interventions are helping to decongest overcrowded classrooms while creating safer and more conducive learning environments for students.
The administration has also expanded teacher recruitment, training, and welfare programmes, ensuring that educators are better equipped to deliver quality education aligned with global standards. Through continuous professional development initiatives, teachers are being trained in digital literacy, modern pedagogy, and inclusive learning methods.
At the tertiary level, the state’s commitment is evident in sustained funding for institutions such as Lagos State University (LASU), which has continued to gain national and international recognition for academic excellence, stable academic calendars, and improved infrastructure under the current administration.
Reacting to these developments, Omolola Olukayode, Secretary General of the Yoruba Radical Assembly, noted that:
“Governor Sanwo-Olu’s steady investment in education shows a clear understanding that the strength of Lagos tomorrow depends on how well we prepare our young people today. His focus on school infrastructure, teacher development, and digital learning is commendable.”
Beyond infrastructure, the Lagos State Government continues to support scholarship schemes, technical and vocational education (TVET) programmes, and skills-based learning initiatives, particularly for youths who seek alternatives to traditional academic pathways. These programmes help bridge the gap between education and employability, ensuring that graduates are equipped with practical skills for the modern economy.
The Yoruba Radical Assembly emphasised that these interventions reflect an administration committed not only to access but also to quality, equity, and sustainability in education.
As Lagos grows in population and global relevance, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s education agenda remains a critical foundation, laying the groundwork for an informed, skilled, and resilient generation ready to drive the state forward.
