Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting the activities of the Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate (PTAD) in order to improve the welfare of retirees and ensure that pensioners in Lagos live meaningful and dignified lives.
The governor made this known while speaking on the importance of effective pension administration and the need to prioritise the welfare of citizens who have dedicated many years of service to the country. He emphasised that retirees deserve adequate care, respect, and timely access to their pension benefits after leaving active service.
Sanwo-Olu noted that pensioners remain an important part of society, having contributed significantly to the growth and development of the state and the nation during their years in public service. According to him, government institutions must continue to put systems in place that guarantee transparency, accountability, and efficiency in the administration of pensions.
He explained that the Lagos State Government is committed to working closely with PTAD and other relevant stakeholders to ensure that retirees receive the support they need. This collaboration, he said, will help strengthen the pension system and address challenges that may affect the timely payment of benefits.
The governor further stressed that ensuring the welfare of retirees aligns with the broader vision of his administration to build a responsive and inclusive government that caters to the needs of all residents.
Sanwo-Olu added that the state will continue to support initiatives that enhance pension management, improve the living conditions of retired workers, and promote policies that protect the rights and dignity of pensioners.
He reaffirmed that Lagos remains committed to creating a fair and efficient pension system that recognises the sacrifices and contributions of retirees while ensuring they enjoy a secure and comfortable life after years of service
