Lagos State Deputy Governor, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, has reaffirmed the importance of grassroots empowerment and community development as essential tools for improving livelihoods and promoting sustainable growth across Lagos State.
Hamzat made this known while attending the Mega Empowerment Programme organised by Hon. Babajimi Benson, the lawmaker representing Ikorodu Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.
The Deputy Governor praised the initiative, describing it as a meaningful intervention aimed at supporting individuals, strengthening families and creating opportunities for residents to achieve economic independence.
He expressed satisfaction with the programme’s positive impact, noting that empowering citizens remains one of the most effective ways to build stronger communities and achieve lasting social transformation.
According to Hamzat, the initiative aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which prioritises improved living conditions, economic opportunities and inclusive development for Nigerians.
He emphasised that genuine progress should not be measured solely by infrastructural achievements but also by the number of individuals whose lives are positively transformed through government policies and empowerment initiatives.
The Deputy Governor further stressed the need for sustained collaboration among federal, state and local governments to ensure that developmental opportunities reach communities across Lagos.
Hamzat maintained that effective leadership requires a genuine commitment to addressing citizens’ needs, supporting vulnerable families and creating an environment where everyone has an opportunity to succeed.
He also encouraged continued investment in people-focused programmes capable of promoting economic stability and community advancement.
Reiterating his dedication to inclusive governance, Hamzat assured residents of his continued commitment to building a Lagos where every individual feels recognised, supported and empowered to achieve their aspirations.
He described collective responsibility and purposeful leadership as essential foundations for a prosperous, inclusive and progressive Lagos State.
