The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Professor Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, has been honoured with the Political Governance Leadership and National Party Institution Leader of the Year Award at the 7th Africa Public Sector Conference and Awards (APSCA 2026), held in Accra, Ghana.
The prestigious recognition celebrates his contributions to political governance, institutional development, leadership innovation and the strengthening of democratic structures in Nigeria.
Professor Yilwatda, who was represented at the continental gathering by the President and Chief Executive Officer of the Digital Bridge Institute, David Daser, expressed appreciation to the organisers for the honour.
Daser delivered his keynote address titled, “The Party as Platform: How Governing Parties Can Architect Digital, Green and Secure Governance for 2030,” and received the award on his behalf.
In his address, the APC National Chairman emphasised that political leadership must transcend electoral victories and focus on building sustainable institutions, strengthening accountability, embracing digital transformation and promoting national development.
He stressed that political parties must evolve beyond election-winning platforms to become centres for policy innovation, leadership development, institutional continuity and measurable public-sector achievements.
Professor Yilwatda reaffirmed the APC’s commitment to strengthening its internal structures while supporting the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
He described the President’s reform agenda as an important framework for national transformation, stressing the need to translate government policies into meaningful improvements in citizens’ lives.
The APC Chairman also acknowledged the contributions of party leaders, members, stakeholders and public servants towards advancing Nigeria’s democratic and developmental aspirations.
He maintained that the recognition represents not only a personal achievement but also a renewed responsibility to promote effective governance and institutional excellence.
Professor Yilwatda concluded by urging political leaders across Africa to prioritise enduring institutions capable of delivering measurable results, sustainable development and lasting benefits for future generations.
