Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and Deputy Governor, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, have attended the opening ceremony of the 26th Annual National Women’s Conference organised by the Committee of Wives of Lagos State Officials (COWLSO).
The conference, which brings together women from different backgrounds to discuss issues affecting their development and contributions to society, is themed “Anchored in Purpose: Be the Blueprint.”
Hamzat disclosed his participation in the event in a statement shared on his official Instagram page, where he highlighted the importance of empowering women to take leadership roles and contribute meaningfully to the development of Lagos State.
According to the deputy governor, the conference theme emphasises the need for individuals, particularly women, to lead by example, uphold integrity and remain committed to values that inspire others.
He noted that women across Lagos State continue to demonstrate leadership qualities in their homes, workplaces and communities, stressing that their contributions remain essential to building a stronger and more progressive society.
Hamzat maintained that every society benefits when women are empowered to pursue their aspirations, develop their ideas and make meaningful contributions to decision-making and community development.
He further called for sustained support for women, noting that they must be provided with opportunities to translate their ambitions into tangible achievements.
The deputy governor also stressed that building a greater Lagos requires the collective efforts of all residents, adding that women must remain central to the state’s development agenda.
The annual COWLSO conference serves as a platform for discussions, networking and the exchange of ideas on issues affecting women, families and society.
The 26th edition is expected to strengthen conversations around purposeful leadership, personal development and the importance of women in driving positive change.
Hamzat’s participation alongside Governor Sanwo-Olu underscores the state government’s engagement with initiatives focused on women’s empowerment and inclusive development.
The conference theme encourages participants to become examples of integrity, purpose and leadership, inspiring others to follow a path of positive impact and sustainable progress.
