
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State has expressed profound gratitude to Lagosians as he celebrated his 61st birthday, describing the opportunity to serve the state as one of the greatest privileges of his life.
In a message shared to commemorate the occasion, the governor reflected on his journey in public service and the responsibility of leading Nigeria’s commercial capital. He noted that eight of his birthday celebrations have been spent in office as governor, a role he described as both demanding and rewarding.
Sanwo-Olu said governing Lagos, one of Africa’s most vibrant and dynamic cities, has taught him valuable lessons in resilience, patience and leadership. According to him, the experience has been deeply humbling and has strengthened his determination to continue working for the progress of the state.
The governor expressed appreciation for the support and trust Lagos residents have shown throughout his administration. He also thanked his family, friends and well-wishers for their continued encouragement and prayers.
“Today, my heart is incredibly full. I am grateful for life, family, good health and the enduring trust of Lagosians,” he said.
Sanwo-Olu acknowledged that public service comes with challenges but emphasized that the opportunity to contribute to the growth and transformation of Lagos makes every effort worthwhile.
While celebrating the milestone, the governor assured residents that his administration remains focused on delivering more development projects and improving the quality of life across the state. He stressed that although significant progress has been made, there is still much work to be done in building a greater and more prosperous Lagos.
He reaffirmed his commitment to serving the people with dedication and purpose, pledging to continue pursuing policies and initiatives that will drive growth and create opportunities for all residents.
The governor concluded by thanking Lagosians for their support and partnership in the ongoing journey to build a better Lagos.
