The appointment, announced as part of the campaign council structure unveiled by the Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, places Dr. Olayinka in an important organisational role within the council. The campaign structure is chaired by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, with former Senator Musiliu Obanikoro serving as Director-General, Rasaq Ajala as Deputy Director-General and Dr. Olayinka as Campaign Secretary.
For CDG, the appointment represents an opportunity to recognise Dr. Olayinka’s extensive professional and public-sector experience, particularly his years of engagement in engineering, infrastructure, administration and governance.
Dr. Olayinka currently serves as Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Works, a position through which he has been involved in matters relating to infrastructure and public works. His professional background includes engineering and technology, while his public service experience has included responsibilities connected to policy, administration and the development agenda of Lagos State.
His appointment as Campaign Secretary also draws attention to the importance of organisational coordination in the work of a large campaign council. According to the published structure, the council comprises a range of directorates and committees covering areas including legal and compliance, party and inter-party affairs, administration and logistics, traditional institutions, diaspora engagement and residents’ associations.
CDG notes that positions of this nature require considerable coordination, communication and administrative responsibility. The Campaign Secretary is expected to work within the broader structure of the council and support the effective coordination of its activities and engagements.
Dr. Olayinka’s professional journey has also extended beyond his current government assignment. Public profiles and previous reports document his experience in the technology and telecommunications sectors, as well as previous responsibilities within the Lagos State Government and the APC structure.
These experiences form an important part of the professional background with which he approaches his latest assignment.
