The Lagos State Residents Registration Agency (LASRRA) has urged residents across Ikorodu Division to register with the agency and ensure their personal details are accurately captured in the state’s residents’ database.
The agency said accurate and reliable population data is essential to effective government planning, particularly in the provision of infrastructure, social services and other programmes targeted at improving the wellbeing of residents.
The call was made during a sensitisation campaign and town hall meeting organised by LASRRA on Thursday at the palace of His Royal Majesty, Oba Dr. AbdulHakeem Adeoriyomi Oyebo, the Obateru of Egbin Kingdom.
Speaking at the event, the General Manager of LASRRA, Mrs. Bilikiss Adebiyi-Abiola, explained that the agency was taking its registration exercise closer to residents by collaborating with traditional institutions and local communities.
According to her, bringing the registration process directly to communities would make it easier for residents to participate and ensure that more people are captured in the state’s database.
Adebiyi-Abiola emphasised that residents’ registration is important because reliable data enables the government to better understand the population, identify community needs and plan effectively for the delivery of essential services.
She encouraged residents of Ikorodu Division to take advantage of the registration opportunities provided by LASRRA and ensure that their information is correctly documented.
The sensitisation campaign also provided an opportunity for residents and community stakeholders to gain a better understanding of the importance of residents’ registration and its role in the development of Lagos State.
The agency reiterated that accurate residents’ data would assist government in making informed decisions and allocating resources more effectively across communities.
LASRRA therefore appealed to traditional rulers, community leaders and residents to support the registration exercise and encourage more people to participate.
The agency reaffirmed its commitment to making residents’ registration more accessible across Lagos, noting that comprehensive and accurate data remains an important tool for building a well-planned and efficiently managed state.
