President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is set to depart Abuja on Thursday for Makkah, Saudi Arabia, to perform Umrah, an Islamic pilgrimage involving prayers, worship and spiritual reflection.
The visit is expected to provide the President with an opportunity to seek Allah’s guidance and blessings for Nigeria, particularly in areas of peace, national unity, stability and continued development.
According to a statement issued by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu’s trip is centred on spiritual devotion and prayers for the country and its citizens.
During his stay in Makkah, the President will perform the religious rites associated with Umrah, seeking divine intervention for Nigeria as the country continues to address its economic, security and developmental challenges.
The presidential visit underscores the importance of faith and prayer in the nation’s pursuit of peace, progress and prosperity.
Before departing Nigeria, Tinubu is scheduled to commission newly acquired equipment for the Nigerian Air Force at the Presidential Wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja.
The equipment is expected to support the Air Force’s operational activities and contribute to efforts to strengthen the country’s defence and security capabilities.
The commissioning will take place before the President begins his journey to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for the spiritual exercise.
Tinubu is expected to return to Nigeria next week after completing the Umrah pilgrimage.
The trip comes as the Federal Government continues to pursue policies and initiatives aimed at improving national security, strengthening the economy and promoting development across the country.
The President’s prayers in Makkah are expected to focus on Nigeria’s peace, unity, stability and sustained progress, as well as the well-being of its people.
The Presidency has described the visit as an opportunity for the President to seek divine guidance for the country while fulfilling the religious obligations associated with the Islamic spiritual exercise.
