Today, I had the honour of attending the opening ceremony of the 2025 Chief of Army Staff Annual Conference alongside His Excellency, the Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Kashim Shettima, CON. The gathering brought together senior military leaders and key stakeholders committed to advancing the security and stability of our nation.
I used the opportunity to commend the Nigerian Army for its unwavering dedication, courage, and sacrifice in the defence of our country. In the face of complex and evolving security challenges, the men and women of the Nigerian Army continue to demonstrate professionalism, resilience, and a deep sense of duty to the nation.
As Governor of Lagos State, I reaffirmed our administration’s continued support and cooperation with the Nigerian Army and other security agencies. In Lagos, our experience has consistently shown that security is best achieved through strong partnerships, mutual trust, and shared responsibility among all levels of government and security institutions. No single agency can do it alone; collaboration remains the foundation of sustainable peace and safety.
The relative stability and progress we have recorded in Lagos are the result of deliberate coordination, intelligence sharing, and joint operations among security stakeholders. These partnerships have helped us protect lives, safeguard critical infrastructure, and create an environment where businesses and communities can thrive.
I expressed my appreciation to the Chief of Army Staff and the entire leadership of the Nigerian Army for convening this important conference. Platforms such as this are vital for strategic reflection, experience sharing, and the development of innovative approaches to addressing current and emerging security concerns.
As deliberations continue, I wish the participants productive engagements and meaningful outcomes that will further strengthen the capacity of the Nigerian Army to fulfil its constitutional responsibilities. Together, through unity of purpose and sustained collaboration, we can continue to build a safer, more secure Nigeria for all.
