
Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Saturday attended the 2026 Lagos International Polo Tournament Governor’s Cup held at the Lagos Polo Club, reaffirming the state’s commitment to preserving its rich sporting heritage and promoting Lagos as a global destination for excellence.
Speaking at the event, the Governor noted that polo has been part of Lagos’ history since 1904, making it one of the oldest sporting traditions in the city. He described the tournament as a symbol of continuity, resilience, and the enduring spirit of sportsmanship that has defined Lagos for over a century. According to him, the sustained growth of polo in the state reflects the dedication of players, organizers, and supporters who have kept the sport vibrant across generations.
Governor Sanwo-Olu commended the Lagos Polo Club for its consistency in hosting world-class competitions that attract both local and international teams.
