Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening education, innovation, and human capital development as key drivers of economic growth and sustainable development.
The governor made this known after receiving the Dean and Founder of Rome Business School, Professor Antonio Ragusa, and his delegation at Lagos House, Marina, where both parties discussed opportunities for collaboration aimed at positioning Lagos as a leading centre of learning and innovation in Africa.
According to Sanwo-Olu, the meeting focused on a shared vision of transforming Lagos into a hub for knowledge, talent development, and leadership excellence. He noted that partnerships between government, academic institutions, and the private sector are essential for building a globally competitive workforce capable of meeting the demands of a rapidly changing world.
The governor said discussions explored potential areas of cooperation in education, leadership development, research, and human capital advancement. He emphasized that investing in people remains one of the most important priorities of his administration.
“We discussed a shared vision of positioning Lagos as a leading hub for learning, innovation and knowledge in Africa, while exploring opportunities to strengthen collaboration in education, leadership development and human capital,” Sanwo-Olu said.
He added that Lagos is blessed with abundant talent and creativity, stressing that the government’s responsibility is to provide the right environment and platforms for individuals to develop their potential and contribute meaningfully to society.
Sanwo-Olu expressed optimism that stronger collaboration with international academic institutions such as Rome Business School would open new opportunities for capacity building, skills development, and knowledge exchange.
The visit underscores Lagos State’s ongoing efforts to attract global partnerships that support education, innovation, entrepreneurship, and workforce development, reinforcing its position as Nigeria’s economic and intellectual hub.
