
Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has paid glowing tribute to former Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola (SAN) on the occasion of his birthday, describing him as a leader whose service and achievements continue to inspire generations of public servants.
In a congratulatory message shared on Saturday, Sanwo-Olu celebrated Fashola as his predecessor, friend, and brother, acknowledging the significant role he played in shaping modern Lagos and laying the foundation for many of the developmental strides being witnessed in the state today.
The governor noted that Fashola’s years of dedicated service to Lagos State and Nigeria remain a source of inspiration, praising his commitment to good governance, infrastructure development, and public sector reforms during his time in office.
According to Sanwo-Olu, the former governor’s leadership established a strong framework that successive administrations have continued to build upon in pursuit of a greater Lagos. He said Fashola’s vision, discipline, and dedication to public service helped transform key sectors and positioned the state for sustainable growth.
“Today, I celebrate my predecessor, brother, and friend, His Excellency Babatunde Raji Fashola (SAN), as he marks another year. His years of dedicated service to Lagos State and our country continue to inspire many of us, and his leadership laid a solid foundation that we continue to build upon today,” Sanwo-Olu said.
The governor also prayed for Fashola’s continued good health, strength, and fulfillment, expressing confidence that the former governor would continue to make meaningful contributions to national development.
Fashola served as Governor of Lagos State from 2007 to 2015 and later held key national positions, including Minister of Works, Housing and Power. He is widely regarded as one of the influential figures in Nigeria’s public administration and governance landscape.
