Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has engaged participants of the second cohort of the Lagos State Public Service Accelerator Programme, emphasising the importance of investing in the capacity of public servants to improve governance and service delivery.
The Governor hosted the participants at Lagos House, Marina, where he interacted with the middle-level officers undergoing the leadership and professional development programme.
Sanwo-Olu said the initiative was established on the principle that building a better Lagos requires deliberate investment in the people responsible for serving its residents.
According to him, the programme is designed to equip public servants with practical skills that can strengthen their ability to provide effective solutions to challenges confronting the state.
The Governor disclosed that a total of 200 middle-level officers have now been trained through the first and second cohorts of the programme.
He encouraged the participants to remain committed to continuous learning and professional development, urging them to keep the needs and wellbeing of Lagos residents at the centre of their responsibilities.
Sanwo-Olu noted that effective leadership within the public service remains essential to achieving sustainable development and improving the quality of government services available to citizens.
He challenged the officers to translate the knowledge and skills acquired through the programme into practical improvements within their various areas of responsibility.
The Governor expressed satisfaction with the progress recorded by participants of the programme, noting that their development represents an investment in the future of the state.
He said the quality of leadership developed within the public service today would have a direct bearing on the future administration and development of Lagos.
The Public Service Accelerator Programme is part of efforts to strengthen the capacity of Lagos State public servants and prepare them to respond more effectively to emerging governance challenges.
Sanwo-Olu expressed confidence that the officers would apply their training to deliver measurable impact across the state, while reaffirming his administration’s commitment to developing capable and responsive public servants.
