
Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has joined the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, and members of the church for Nigeria’s Independence Day service at the RCCG Headquarters in Ebute Metta, Lagos.
The service brought together members of the RCCG family and other worshippers to mark Nigeria’s independence while offering prayers and reflections on the nation’s journey since gaining independence.
Sanwo-Olu, who shared highlights of his participation in the service, emphasised the importance of collective responsibility in building the Nigeria that citizens desire. He noted that the development and progress of the country require the commitment and contributions of everyone, regardless of their background or position.
The Governor stressed the significance of faith, unity and dedication in overcoming the challenges facing the nation and creating a more prosperous future for Nigerians.
According to him, the responsibility of building a better Nigeria cannot be left to government alone, as citizens, religious leaders, professionals, communities and other stakeholders all have important roles to play in the country’s development.
Sanwo-Olu said the Independence Day celebration provided an opportunity for Nigerians to reflect on the country’s achievements, challenges and aspirations while renewing their commitment to national development.
He also highlighted the importance of maintaining hope and working together toward a stronger and more united nation. The Governor expressed optimism that with faith, commitment and collective action, Nigeria can achieve greater progress and provide better opportunities for its citizens.
The Independence Day service served as an avenue for worshippers to seek divine guidance and offer prayers for peace, stability and prosperity across the country.
Sanwo-Olu commended the RCCG leadership and congregation for their continued prayers and contributions to national development.
He urged Nigerians to remain hopeful and committed to the country, stressing that the future of Nigeria depends on the collective efforts of its people to build a nation that works for all.
