Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has received the Governor of the Year Award from the national leadership of Accredited Civil Society Organisations and the Civil Society Organisation on Community Advancement and Humanitarian Empowerment Initiative (CSCHEI).
The award was presented at the National Civil Society Summit held in Abuja, in recognition of the Lagos State Government’s efforts in infrastructure development, education, healthcare and initiatives aimed at improving residents’ quality of life.
Sanwo-Olu disclosed the recognition, noting that members of his team received the award on his behalf at the event.
The governor dedicated the honour to the people of Lagos State, describing it as encouragement for his administration to remain committed to responsive governance, accountability and sustainable development.
He stressed the importance of listening to residents, addressing their needs and creating an environment where everyone has access to opportunities that support improved living standards.
According to the governor, the recognition reflects the collective efforts of his administration and the contributions of residents and other stakeholders working towards the continued development of Lagos State.
The organisers highlighted several key projects undertaken by the state government, including the Lagos Blue Line rail system, the establishment of a new regional school cluster and the ongoing construction of what has been described as West Africa’s largest children’s hospital.
These projects form part of the state government’s broader efforts to strengthen public transportation, improve access to quality education and expand healthcare infrastructure for residents.
The Blue Line rail system is expected to support urban mobility by providing an alternative means of transportation, while investments in education and healthcare are aimed at improving access to essential public services.
Sanwo-Olu reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to delivering projects and policies that would promote economic growth, expand opportunities and improve the general welfare of Lagos residents.
He also expressed appreciation to the organisers for the recognition and thanked the people of Lagos State for their continued trust and partnership.
The governor emphasised that his administration would sustain its development drive, focusing on practical results and initiatives that would benefit residents across the state.
