Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has endorsed his deputy, Dr Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, describing him as an experienced leader capable of sustaining the state’s development agenda and ensuring continuity in governance.
Sanwo-Olu made his position known while expressing confidence in Hamzat’s leadership experience, knowledge of government operations and contributions to the development of Lagos State.
The governor noted that Hamzat had been a dependable partner throughout their years in office, highlighting his loyalty, commitment and active participation in the administration’s major programmes and policies.
According to Sanwo-Olu, their working relationship, which began in 2019, has been characterised by mutual trust, cooperation and a shared vision for the progress of Lagos.
He recalled that Hamzat had previously served in different government capacities, gaining valuable experience in public administration, infrastructure development and technology-driven governance.
The governor also highlighted Hamzat’s contributions to major projects, including the Lekki-Ikoyi Link Bridge, the digitisation of government operations and other infrastructure initiatives.
Sanwo-Olu stressed that Lagos requires experienced leadership to sustain ongoing development projects and implement its long-term development plans.
He further described governance in the state as a continuous process, noting that successive administrations had built on the foundations established by their predecessors since 1999.
The governor maintained that Hamzat understands the policies, challenges and priorities of Lagos, making him familiar with the responsibilities involved in managing the state’s affairs.
He added that the deputy governor’s experience and involvement in the current administration would be valuable in maintaining the direction of government and advancing existing development programmes.
Sanwo-Olu urged residents and stakeholders to support the vision of continuity, emphasising the importance of building on existing achievements while pursuing further development across the state.
His endorsement comes amid growing political attention surrounding the future leadership of Lagos State ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
