The Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) has empowered 2,500 women across Nigeria’s South-East geopolitical zone as part of efforts to strengthen women-owned businesses, promote economic independence and create sustainable livelihood opportunities.
According to a post by the APC National Youth Wing, the empowerment programme was flagged off in September 2026 by Senator Oluremi Tinubu, First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, under the Renewed Hope Initiative South-East Women’s Empowerment Programme.
The initiative focused on providing empowerment items and support to women involved in small businesses and other income-generating activities across the region. The programme is aimed at helping beneficiaries improve their businesses, strengthen household livelihoods and become more economically independent.
The initiative also highlights the Federal Government’s broader emphasis on women’s participation in economic development, with support targeted at equipping women with resources that can help them build sustainable businesses and improve their communities.
The programme is expected to contribute to stronger grassroots economic activity by giving women greater access to opportunities and resources needed to grow their enterprises.
The Renewed Hope Initiative has continued to place emphasis on programmes designed to improve the welfare and economic prospects of vulnerable groups, with women’s empowerment forming an important part of its intervention efforts.
The South-East women’s empowerment programme is also projected to have a lasting impact beyond the immediate distribution of empowerment items, with the broader objective of strengthening businesses and community livelihoods.
The APC youth wing described the intervention as part of ongoing efforts to equip women for success and support economic independence across the region.
With 2,500 women benefiting from the programme, the initiative represents a significant intervention aimed at strengthening women-led businesses and creating more sustainable economic opportunities in the South-East.
