At the 19th Annual Town Hall Meeting of the Lagos State Security Trust Fund, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu emphasized that the foundation of a safer Lagos lies in collective responsibility and mutual trust between institutions and the people they serve. He noted that security cannot be left solely to the government; it requires the active involvement of the private sector, community leaders, and every resident.
Sanwo-Olu highlighted that security is central to Lagos’ economic growth, quality of life, and attractiveness to investors. According to him, the Security Trust Fund continues to distinguish itself as a model of collaboration—bringing together government, businesses, and citizens to deliver tangible results. Through the Fund’s support, Lagos has significantly enhanced patrol capacity, expanded surveillance systems, and strengthened cybersecurity infrastructure.
These strategic investments, the Governor noted, are yielding measurable success. In the last four years, Lagos has recorded zero bank robberies, a remarkable milestone in public safety. Home invasion attempts have been foiled, suspects apprehended, and dangerous weapons recovered. Sanwo-Olu also commended the improved synergy among security agencies and the growing role of community-driven intelligence, particularly through the Neighbourhood Safety Corps.
He acknowledged that these achievements align with and complement the national security reforms championed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, whose commitment to modernizing Nigeria’s security architecture continues to support and enhance Lagos State’s progress.
Looking ahead, Sanwo-Olu reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to expanding security technology, strengthening coordination among agencies, upholding transparency, and preparing proactively for emerging threats.
He called on stakeholders across all sectors—businesses, community leaders, civil society organizations, and residents—to remain vigilant and deeply involved. The Governor stressed that the safety of Lagosians remains the bedrock of the state’s prosperity and pledged to continue building a Lagos that is secure, resilient, and full of opportunity for all.
