Babajide Sanwo-Olu has reiterated his administration’s determination to reduce the cost of governance in Lagos State as part of efforts to make government operations more efficient and beneficial to residents.
Speaking during a recent engagement, the governor explained that his government is focused on implementing policies that promote prudent management of public resources while ensuring that essential services are delivered effectively. According to him, reducing the cost of governance does not mean cutting back on development but rather improving how government institutions operate and utilize available funds.
Sanwo-Olu emphasized that the state government has already begun introducing reforms aimed at streamlining operations across ministries, departments, and agencies. By encouraging collaboration among these bodies and reducing duplication of responsibilities, the administration hopes to save resources and improve service delivery to the public.
The governor also noted that technology and modern infrastructure are playing an important role in the reform process. Several initiatives have been introduced to digitize government services, making it easier for residents and businesses to access services without unnecessary bureaucracy. These efforts, he said, will not only improve transparency but also reduce administrative costs over time.
Sanwo-Olu further stated that the government remains committed to maintaining fiscal discipline while continuing to invest in critical sectors such as infrastructure, transportation, healthcare, and education. He assured residents that every policy being introduced is aimed at ensuring that public funds are used in ways that create real value for the people.
According to the governor, the administration’s goal is to build a government structure that is efficient, accountable, and responsive to the needs of Lagosians. By cutting waste and prioritizing impactful projects, the state aims to sustain development while keeping governance affordable.
He reaffirmed that the commitment to reducing the cost of governance will remain a key part of his administration’s agenda as Lagos continues to grow as one of Africa’s leading economic and commercial hubs.
